I love my work. When I realized I wanted to be a therapist, as a young woman in my 20’s, I knew that before I could be available to witness and facilitate other people’s healing journeys, I had to undertake my own. My journey has spanned decades and has taken me to amazing places.
Today, I am an LCSW with 30 years of experience in the field. My approach is eclectic. My post-graduate training is in Gestalt Therapy, Psychodrama, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and EMDR. I have over 20 years of experience running groups and working with individuals who are recovering from addiction and relational trauma. I see addiction as a cultural phenomenon that is not limited to substance use—but as one that describes any attempt to relieve painful problems with external solutions that can only be temporary and inadequate. Only love heals.
I bring to the work my intuition and integrity and my deep caring and respect for my clients. My therapeutic approach was inspired and is validated by the late M. Scott Peck’s words on love in psychotherapy. He said, “the essential ingredient of successful, deep and meaningful psychotherapy is love.” He described therapist and client as being genuinely, deeply and mutually involved in the regular, circumscribed meeting of the therapeutic relationship, at times struggling together, for the purpose of nurturing the client’s spiritual growth. As I’ve built my practice, my own spiritual growth has evolved alongside my traditional work, and that broader perspective informs my approach. In this therapeutic context, love means that I do the rigorous work of having an attuned, accepting, and honest relationship with my clients, seeing their full potential, while holding space for them to be exactly who they are.
I welcome a contact from you.
